Welcome Message
On behalf of the Chinese Ophthalmological Society, we have the pleasure and honor to invite you and your family members to attend and actively participate in the coming 10th Congress of the Chinese Ophthalmological Society (CCOS) in Tianjin. The meeting will be in accordance with the aim of exchanging, collaboration and friendship, which was fixed at the 8th and 9th Congresses of the Chinese Ophthamological Society, to show the great achievements in various fields of Chinese ophthalmology which are being in the reform, opening up and development, to exchange the developments of the clinical and basic researches of ophthalmology and visual science internally and internationally since the 9th CCOS, to display the progress of ophthalmic instruments and technology of medical pharmacy. This meeting is aimed to promote the friendship and mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign ophthalmologists, to advance the development and prosperity of ophthalmology. We will continue to try hard to make the 10th CCOS to be a successful gathering which is in perfect harmony of academic exchange, continuing medical education and new medical products.
Tianjin with a population of 10 million and a coverage of 11,000km2 is located at the west bank of the Pacific Ocean, standing 137km away from capital Beijing. Ahead of her is sea and bank of her is mountain; “Haihe River” is meandering through the downtown of the city and flowing on into Bohai Sea. Haihe is the mother river of Tianjin; out of hundreds of years of vicissitudes not only rises her shining cultural splendor, but also settles down considerable wealth of history and liberal arts for this ancient city. The year 2004 is the 600 years of anniversary of the founding of Tianjin city. The 600 years of mutations accompanying Tianjin have made Tianjin from seashore village into a modern metropolis fraught with economic awareness and modern fashions. She is both old and young, traditional and open up; that is Tianjin - a unique international port city where you enter China or go to the world. We hope as many of our colleagues as possible will be able to join us for the 10th CCOS and we look forward to meeting you in Tianjin in September of 2005.
