The Role Of questionnaires In Lasik Surgery: Aiding The Surgeon in The Selection Of Patients For And In assessing The Degree Of Patient Satisfaction Following Lasik.

Purpose
Review and analyse current available questionnaires in use for refractive surgery to assess the relevance to the surgeon in defining patient selection and satisfaction

Methods
A literature review was performed to identify the top 10 most cited questionnaires used to assess patient satisfaction following Lasik in the last 20 years. They were analysed in terms of type of parameters assessed, number of question asked, and methods of evaluation of the questionnaires, sample size and duration of the relevant studies.

Results
Around 300 well designed studies have been published in peer reviewed journals .The questions varied from measuring the change in objective factors such as visual acuity and contrast sensitivity to subjective factors like quality of vision, quality of life, ocular comfort and overall quality of lasik services.

Conclusion
Available questionnaires differ greatly in analysing in the various psychometric and psychosocial aspects of laser vision correction. The choice of questionnaire to use should be directly related to the main aim of the prospective study.

The clinical relevance of the questions and advantages and disadvantages of the reviewed questionnaires will be discussed.
