Calculating The Optimal Rotation of a Misaligned Toric Intraocular Lens

Laurence Sullivan FRANZCO

RVEEH, Melbourne

Purpose: Toric IOLs are the biggest advance in IOL refractive technology in the last 10 years. For various reasons we don't always obtain perfect refractive results. I will present a calculator for adjustment of the axis of rotation for a toric IOL postoperatively.

Methods: Optics crossed cylinder formula translated to an Excel spreadsheet

Results: The formula correctly predicts optimal adjustment of a toric IOL alignment for optimal refractive results.

Conclusion: This a useful tool for cataract surgeons.
