Purpose:To study the improvement and stabilization effects of Collagen Crosslinking (CXL) on Keratoconus patients in their Myopic Astigmatism, Corneal Thinning and Visual Acuity.
Method: The cornea is de-epithelised first. The Technique and Protocol was as that of E.Spoerl, Theo Seiler et al using Isotonic Riboflavin-Dextran solution for cornea >400u and .Hypotonic solution for cornea<400u followed by UV radiation for 30mins.
Results: All Post-CXL Keratoconus patients experienced full visual enhancement LogMar results indicate visual recovery of 95% of cases to be almost 100%. Astigmatism reduction was between1-2.5dioptres. In all cases Corneal Topography indicated "regularization" of the cornea .
Conclusion: The Progression of Myopic astigmatism. And Corneal Thinning can be stabilized by Proactive CXL Treatment.
