Purpose : To describe technique, safety, advantages and results of implantable contact lens in patients with high myopia and astigmatism.
Methods : This is a retrospective study of patients having had surgery for correction of myopia and astigmatism with implantable contact lens by one surgeon (JH).
Results : A total number of 15 patients with 3 years follow-up with range of myopia from -12 to -21 dioptre and cylinder up to 7 dioptre were evaluated, including 2 patients with keratoconus. All patients were within +/- 1 dioptre of target refraction post operatively, buy the correction of cylinder were not as good as the spherical component, especially for keratoconus patients.
Conclusions : ICL seems to give stable and safe results for at least 3 years follow-up, and it also can be use for early keratoconus patients.
