Effect Of Extent Of Hypermetropic Correction (Full, Under and Over) on Refractive Eso

Purpose: This prospective study explores the effect of hypermetropic refractive correction on fully accommodative eso for near in children .
Methods: One hundred fifty cases of fully accommodative eso were divided in three groups , on the basis of prescription of glasses for hypermetrpia ,with full hypermetropic correction, under correction of hypermetropia, and over correction of hypermetropia. The angle of deviation without refractive correction, with hypermetropic correction and under cycloplegic effect was measured in each case . The residual deviation with particular hypermetropic correction was recorded for comparison.Findings of two follow ups each after after 6 weeks were recorded in respect to controle , amount of deviation and accommodative convergenec.
Results: The residual deviation , conytrole and accommodative convergence of three groups –full correction ,over correction and under correction were compared and statically analyzed. The results were having significant difference in fully corrected and under corrected hypermetropic children but were not significant for over correction.
Conclusion: Full correction of hypermrttopia is ncessary for better controle of refrctive eso but the over correction (even given in the form of bifocal in Children ) is not sinificantly useful.
