Purpose: To study the clinical profile, management and outcomes in unilateral retinoblastoma(RB).

Methods: A retrospective review of unilateral retinoblastoma cases from Jan 1995 to Jan 2010, having a minimum follow up period of 1 year.

Results: Of 218 cases, 113 completed minimum of one yr follow up. Of the 113 cases, 95 were intraocular and 18 extraocular. Primary enucleation was performed for 51 eyes. Sixty-two cases underwent chemoreduction with/without focal therapy, of which 18 were extraocular and 44 were intraocular RB. Of these, 59 were enucleated subsequently. A total of 13 patients underwent radiotherapy. In the post-chemoreduction group, radiotherapy could be avoided in 52 (83.87%) patients. Overall survival rate was 98.25% at median follow up period of 38 months. It was 98.95% in patients with intraocular RB and 94.44% in extraocular RB. One eye could be salvaged with chemoreduction and local therapy.

Conclusion: Our study reveals excellent survival even in patients of extraocular retinoblastoma with chemoreduction and local therapy.
