Management Challenges of Glaucoma in Developing Countries

Purpose:
The purpose of presenting this paper is to highlight the challenges faced by Ophthalmologists of developing countries, particularly Pakistan in managing patients of Glaucoma especially POAG.

Methods:
Data has been collected from selected centres of Pakistan on a specially designed proforma about the various types of Glaucoma patients encountered and management problems faced. The data has been analyzed and presented in the paper.

Results:
The results highlight the importance of Gonioscopy for the scientific diagnosis of Glaucoma patients and decision of medical therapy vs surgical treatment is based on compliance and adherence of patient to treatment and potential for follow up.
