Purpose: Showing simpler way of managing the post-phacoemulsification PCR (Posterior Capsular Rent) cortical matter with vitreous loss with the help of vitrectomy system
Method: A study of 102 cases of management of lef out cortical matter post-phaco PCR, cortical matter being at different levels anterior , mid and psoterior vitreous cavity with the help of 20/23G vitrectomy system using single/double and three port vitrectomy was done by debulking the vitreous mixed with cortex and reducing traction to retina and chances of CME and uveitis.
Results: 100 cases did well post-operatively with a vision of 20/40 to 20/20 vision. Two cases which were reported after two weeks recovered 20/60 and 20/80 due to CME and in both cases and scattered retinal hemorrhages due to retinitis in one case.
Conclusion: Cortical matter left post-operatively should be managed as early as possible by vitrectomy only not by irrigation –aspiration for better results
