Difficult Situation – 180 degree Traumatic Subluxation

Lens subluxation is a clinical situation that makes cataract surgery difficult , especially if phacoemulsification is attempted. It requires evaluation of intact zonular support, a plan , modifications and precautions during different surgical stages and above all an honest assessment of the surgeon about individual surgical capabilities.

Trauma is the most frequent cause of lens subluxation. With the advent of Capsular tension rings , the surgical approach to lens subluxation has undergone a revolution , phacoemulsification emerging as the procedure of choice.Case presented is a traumatic 180 deg subluxated cataract, demonstrating steps for a safe phaco
