Purpose: To report a case of irreversible corneal endothelial cell defect after air-bag related ocular trauma

Methods: A 30-year-old male complained of binocular pain and decreased visual acuity after a car accident. When his car crashed into a guard rail, he incurred multiple facial abrasions from the inflated air bag. During the initial physical examinations, traumatic hyphema, corneal epithelial defects and stromal edemas were found in his both eyes. In his left eye, traumatic iridodialysis, phacodonesis and vitreal hemorrhage were also found.

Results: It reveals the corneal endothelial defect by the specular microscopy after decreasing of the corneal edema.

Conclusions: We report the case of a significant corneal endothelial defect caused by the airbag induced ocular injury, which is rarely observed.
