Purpose: To compare the intraocular pressure measurements using the rebound tonometer (ICare) and the Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT)
Methods: 151 patients (302 eyes) were recruited. The IOP of right eyes were measured by Icare first then by Goldmann applanation tonometer. The left eyes measured by Goldmann applanation tonometer first then followed by ICare tonometer. Bland-Altman analysis was performed to show the agreement between 2 devices.
Results:The mean difference of measured IOP between the two tonometers was 1.387 mmHg (CI 1.112 to 1.662). The 95% limits of agreement were ± 4.86 mmHg. 64% of IOP measured by ICare was underestimated when compared with GAT.
Conclusions: GAT and ICare tonometer is not used interchangeably. The rebound tonometer (ICare) may be useful in screening for measurement of IOP but it may have IOP underestimated when compared with GAT.
