Wies Procedure and Combined Wies Procedure with Lateral Tarsal Strip in Involutional Entropion

Purpose: To evaluate success rate of Wies procedure with lateral tarsal strip in involutional entropion patient.
Method: This is a descriptive retrospective study reviewing 22 patients with involutional lower eyelid entropion who underwent surgical repair between January 2007 to October 2009 at Plastic and Reconstructive Division of the Ophthalmology Department in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Aini Eye Hospital, Jakarta Eye Center. Study subjects were underwent Wies procedure and combined Wies procedure with lateral tarsal strip performed by one surgeon (HS).
Results: There were nine subject with Wies procedure and 13 subject with combined procedure. Combined procedure yields higher success result(100%) compared with Wies procedure alone(75%)
Conclusion: Involutional entropion correction with Wies procedure and lateral tarsal strip would reduce recurrence rate even though pre-operative examination showed no horizontal laxity
