Purpose: To describe retinal pigment epithelial rip following multiple injection of Avastin for the treatment of choroidal neovascularization and how it was managed.
Method: Choroidal Neovascularization (CNV) was diagnosed Angiographically (FFA) and on optical coherence tomography (OCT). Injection Avastin was given and macular thickness was monitored on OCT .After initial improved the vision dropped suddenly and a rip was observed. We continued the same treatment with injection Avastin but the frequency was increased.
Results: We gave injection Avastin weekly and then three weekly and monitored the macular thickness on OCT .After treatment there was an improvement both in vision and also Angiogrphically and on OCT.
Conclusion: RPE rip is a rare complication of injection Avastin for the treatment of CNV. Continued treatment with injection Avastin improve the vision and also regress the leision.
