Retinal Case Report: Hand Foot & Mouth Disease & Unilateral Acute Maculopathy

Retinal Case Report;
We would like to describe a case of unilateral acute Maculopathy in a 37yr old male, who presented with a sudden onset of central unilateral scotoma in right eye, and reduced visual acuity to 6/36. One week prior to presentation, he developed telangiectatic lesions on his hands, feet and buccal mucosa with associated flu-like symptoms, and was diagnosed as having Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease Biomicroscopy showed a subretinal elevated lesion with surrounding pigmentation, which changed rapidly over a 2 week period.
We describe his clinical progress, including investigations with Fluorescein Angiography and Autofluorescence.
