Purpose and background: Morning glory disc anomaly is a rare case in which retinal detachment may occur. We report a case of total retinal detachment in morning glory disc anomaly which has been managed with vitrectomy.
Method: A case report
Result: An 18 years-old girl complained of blurred vision in her left eye. Her right eye was anophthalmos and the visual acuity of her left eye was hand movement. Fundus examination showed total retinal detachment with fold centered in the central of the optic disc. The vitreous was hazy and optic disc was large and pale. Vitrectomy was done with scleral buckling, membrane peeling, endolaser and silicone oil tamponade. Retina was successfully attached after vitrectomy and morning glory disc anomaly was visible. Her visual acuity was improved to counting finger in one meter after two months.
Conclusion: Vitrectomy give a good anatomic and visual outcome in morning glory disc anomaly with total retinal detachment.
