Purpose: To compare the difference of disc hemorrhage in glaucoma and non-glaucoma eyes.
Methods: A total of 21 glaucoma eyes (21 subjects) and 19 non-glaucoma eyes (19 non-glaucoma subjects) with DH were selected from both clinics and population-based study. All the participants underwent clinical examinations including optic disc photography, visual field, and pneumotonometry.

Results: Participants had a mean age of 62.2±10.1 years (6 male/ 15 female) in glaucoma group, and 59.3±12.3 years (11 male/ 8 female) in non-glaucoma group, respectively (P=0.406). Comparing with non-glaucoma group, DH in glaucoma group showed a bigger DH length (P=0.017), but did not show difference in width and area (P=0.362 / P=0.161). More frequency of co-occurrence of RNFLD, and rim loss in the same place as DH were found in glaucoma group (P<0.001). 21 of 21 glaucoma eyes and 14 of 19 non-glaucoma eyes (73.7%) showed peripapillary atrophy (PPA). 76.2% DH or 15.8% DH was adjacent to PPA in glaucoma or non-glaucoma group (P<0.001). More glaucomatous DHs were located temporal-inferiorly when it was defined as from 7 to 8 o'clock hour (57.2% V.S 21.1%, P=0.024), and less glaucomatous DHs wre located nasally when it was defined as from 0 to 6 o'clock hour (23.5% V.S 52.6%, P=0.031).

Conclusions: DH showed different morphological characteristics and locations in glaucoma and non-glaucoma eyes, which could be valuable in glaucoma diagnosis and differentiation.
