Early Change in Intraocular Pressure after Intravitreal Injection of Avastin

Purpose: To evaluate and compare the change in intraocular pressure after intravitreal injection of Avastin.

Methods: A total of 53 patients were included in the study. All the patients were above 40 years of age .Intra ocular pressure was measured with Perkins Tonometer ,before intravitreal injection, soon after intravitreal injection and 15 minutes after intravitreal injection of Avastin.

Results: 27 patients had IOP from 10mmhg to 15mmhg, 18 patients had IOP 16mmhg to 20mmhg and 08 patients had IOP 21mmhg to 25 mmhg.Soon after intravitreal injection of Avastin in 41 patients change in IOP was from 01mmhg to 03mmhg and in 12 patients change in IOP was from 04mmhg to 07mmhg.15 minutes after injection of Avastin 45 patients had change in IOP from 01 to 03mmhg and 08 patients had change in IOP from 04mmhg to 07mmhg.

Conclusion: Significant change in IOP was observed in patients with high pre injection intraocular pressure.
