Hemostats are placed across the tarsus, Muller's muscle, and conjunctiva 1 to 4 mm from the superior tarsal border depending on the amount of correction desired. D. Prolene 6-0 is passed from the medial aspect of the eyelid crease through full-thickness tarsus, Muller's muscle, and conjunctiva below the hemostats. Suture is carried across in a continuous mattress fashion until the lateral end is reached. E. Suture is passed out through the eyelid crease. F. The hemostats are removed and the tissue is excised across the crushed area. G. The procedure is repeated on the other eye if indicated. H. Eyelid position can be minimally adjusted by pulling on both ends of the suture. The medial and lateral ends of the suture are tied in a knot to each other. I. Sutures are trimmed and removed 1 week postoperatively. |
