Balanced salt solution is gently irrigated through a blunt 30-gauge cannula as the opposite site is depressed to allow egress of blood from the anterior chamber. B. Automated microvitrectomy instrumentation is used to cut, aspirate, and irrigate the clot. Care is taken to avoid damage to the lens and iris.
