Purpose: to test the association between TGFB1 gene polymorphisms and high myopia in Hong Kong Chinese by using case-control association study
Methods: we enrolled 300 high myopic individuals (≤-8.0diopters) and 300 controls initially. SNPs chosen from TGFB1 gene were genotyped.
Results: 8 SNPs were identified in high myopia and controls, with four SNP(rs1800469,rs1982073,rs2241716 and rs4803455)having significant difference in allele and genotype frequencies between high myopia and unrelated control.
Conclusions: TGFB1 is a probable candidate gene for high myopia |
