Purpose Through the measurement of multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) in the patient eyes with choroidal neovascularization (CNV) evaluate to the lesions of visual function and the effects of medical treatment.
Method Sixteen eyes affected with CNV, diagnosed by FFA, ICGA and OCT, were tested with VERIS Science 4.0 before and after the medical treatment. The average response densities and latencies of annular retinal regions were analyzed. The 3-dimension plots of mfERG were observed also.
Results The average response densities and latencies of CNV eyes were abnormal. Follow up of medical treatment 6 months later the average response density of N1 and P1 in first and second ring increased than before treatment (P, 1st ring = 0.012; P, 2nd ring = 0.031). The differences were significance. But the latencies were no significant difference.
Conclusion As the objective visual function testing for macula the mfERG has showed the abnormality in CNV eyes and it was improvement after medical treatment. It determinate the mfERG is useful in evaluation of the visual function changes in macular diseases and with the treatment. |
