Purpose: To report a case of blepharitis and keratopathy induced by Phthirus pubis.
Methods: Case report.
Results: A 74-year-old woman complained of persistent itching and blurred vision of her left eye for one month. Some dot-shape corneal stromal opacities were noted under slit lamp examination. Redness of her left eyelid with a few moving insects over the eyelashes were also noted. All the lice and nits were removed and sent for identification. The lice were proven to be Phthirus pubis. The patient was advised to clean all her clothing. All the symptoms were relieved two weeks later. Only corneal opacities were still noted.
Conclusion: Infestation of the eyelashes by Phthirus pubis is uncommon in healthy adults. Keratopathy induced by Phthirus pubis has never been reported in the literature. So we reported this rare case.
