Purpose: To evaluate the visual outcomes for far, near, and intermediate distance, after Synchrony dual-optic accommodative IOL implantation. To present a safe and effective surgical technique to support an easy Synchrony IOL positioning in the capsular bag.
Methods: 12 patients (24 eyes) underwent phaco emulsification under topical anaesthesia and bilateral Synchrony lens implantation. Follow up visit were performed same day, day one, one week and month one and three. Surgical technique : 5.3 mm capsulorhexis , anterior and posterior capsule cleaning and enlargement of the incision with calibrated metal knife at 4.1 mm.
Results:  No discomfort or complications were noted postoperatively.  Patients mean age was 73.06 ± 4.64 years. Far uncorrected visual acuity  was 0.58 ± 0.24 at one month. . Far uncorrected visual acuity was 0.99 ± 0.04, and all patients read J2 without correction at three months.  Defocus curve analysis was applied to detect mean accommodative range.
Conclusion: Synchrony dual-optic accommodating IOL  is clinically effective in refractive cataract surgery patients. Progressive car driving uncorrected far vision is achieved within six week. Near vision is comfortable within one week.
