Purpose: The aim of this article :there is little published information on the relationship chronic epiphora and meibomianitis. Our paper to report the treatment the meibomianitis is contribute to improve chronic tearing . Design: retrospective,non-comparative chart review in Casey eye institute. Methods: 1000 chronic epihora patient chart review in Casey Eye institute during 2000-2009. 206(20.6%) review of patients who was slit lamp examination was digonosised meibomianitis. Diagnostic criteria were meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis, lid margin telangiectasia, hyperaemia punctuate superficial keratopathy, through treatment include maintenance of lid hygene and the use of artificial tears, Systemic antibiotics, Warm and moist compresses used 2-3 times a day. Lightly massaging the lids with the warm compress. diet supplementation with Omega-3 fatty acids. Results: Totally 1000 choronic tearing patients, among these patients,206(20.6%)meibomianis patients, (average age 65.8years ,average tearing time 2.78years). white patients 196(95%). Female: Male 106 (51.5%):100 (48.5%).Average follow up time 5.07 months, through treatment, totally tearing improved 73%. Conclusions: The patients who presented to our office for the tearing have 20.6% had the meibominis. If the patient have the meibibominis should treat it. Sometearing patients after the surgery still tearing should payattention to treat the meibominis. |
