ObjectiveTo investigate the incidence and the correlative factors of adult eye diseases by the results of eye examination for whom in Beijing, which may be conductive for disease prevention and early therapy. Methods 40,000 cases were seized in 2009-2010 inthe hospital medical center. Preliminary diagnosis including both anterior and posterior segment diseases was made by medical history information, standard logarithmic visual acuity chart, intraocular pressure measurement of non-contact tonometer, slit lamp and ophthalmoscopy. Results 38455 cases were actual subjected, examination rate was 96.14%, with the age of 18-40 years old was 22.30%, 40-60 years old accounted for 47.00%, more than 60 years old accounted for 30.70%, in which males accounted for 47.07%, females accounted for 52.93% . The prevalence was seized in all ages, and the top five diseases were: retinal arteriosclerosis accounted for 17.18%, 16.15% of senile cataract, glaucoma and suspected glaucoma 5.21%, 6.23% refractive error, age-related macular degeneration 1.37%. In the >60 age group the prevalence of the top five diseases were: 22.23% of retinal arteriosclerosis, 21.32% of senile cataract, glaucoma and suspected glaucoma 5.79%, 5.53% refractive error, age-related macular degeneration 2.28%. Then the age of 60-70 years, 70-80 years and more than 80 years were divided into three groups to count the prevalence respectively. The prevalence of retinal arteriosclerosis, senile cataract, age-related macular degeneration increased significantly with age. There was no significant difference between male and female in the prevalence for all age groups of the top five diseases. Conclusion The prevalence of retinal arteriosclerosis, senile cataract and age-related macular degeneration were age-related inBeijingadults, but unrelated with sex. |
