Eaf2 regulates differentiation and proliferation of lens epithelial cell through Wnt signaling pathway

Purpose To study the effect of Eaf2 (ELL-associated factor 2) on lens epithelial cell of UV defense ability, further to know the function of Eaf2 in occurrence of age-related cataract.
Methods  Culture human lens epithelial cells, transfect them with Eaf2、ELL as experimental group, while PEGFP-C1 as control group. Use UV lamp quantitatively irradiate them, and then observe the expression level of Eaf2, p53, Wnt11, beta-catenin, Lef1 and Tcf7 in Wnt pathway, further to know how Eaf2 regulates differentiation and proliferation of human lens epithelial cell through Wnt pathway.
Results In human lens epithelial cells which was transfected with Eaf2、ELL, the expression level of Wnt11,beta-catenin,lef1 and Tcf7 was lower than that of control group; Similarly, the expression level of p53 was lower than that of control group.
Conclusion Eaf2 may affect UV defense ability of lens epithelial cell through Wnt pathway.Eaf2 may provide a new strategy for the preven tion and treatment of age-related cataract.
