Objective: To investigate the distribution of thyrotrophin receptor (TSHR) in some tissues and organs of the BALB/c mice and provide the pathologic basis for establishing the GD and / or TAO animal model.
Methods: The real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR method was used to analyze the expression level of TSHR mRNA in the thyroid gland and extrathyroidal tissues of the BALB/c mice.
Results: Besides its expression in thyroid gland, abundant TSHR mRNA expression was detected in suprarenal gland, thymus gland, testis, ovary and extraocular muscles, while weaker expression was found in kidney, brain, abdominal fat tissue, submandibular gland, lung, skin of abdomen, orbital adipose tissues, liver and spleen, and no expression in pancreas, heart and rectus abdominis muscle.
Conclusion: Besides its expression in thyroid gland, TSHR is firstly found extensive existence in the extrathyroidal tissues of the BALB/c mice, and its mechanism may be different everywhere.
