| A 20-year-old male had ocular dominance shift the next day after his both eyes’ lasik surgery. And so did his more frequent squint eye. Ocular dominance was thought to be related to the gene or very early period of childhood. However, Seldom had ocular dominance shift in clinic reported before, though there were animal models on rodent visual cortex ocular dominance shift. And most studies showed ocular dominance was stable in human beings and seldom paper published on the ocular dominance shift. And it shifted toward the more clarity eye. It seemed that our brain would choose the clearer eye as the dominant eye, no matter the individual is grown-up or still on growing. And from our case we found only 1 line Snellen visual acuity chart clarity difference was enough to make the shift happen. Also we found that ocular dominance shift was not related to the squint and time. In short, the ocular dominance shift towards more clearer eye, while the shift was neither related to the squint nor the time, which may help with dealing with myopic anisometropia’s refraction. |
