0bjective To analysis the recurrence causes and the outcome of re-operation in patients with secondary strabismus after pre-operation on ocular muscles.
Methods we analyzed 34 patients with the secondary strabismus after pre-operation on ocular muscles retrospectively, and designed the reasonable procedures to treat them according to the gender, age, strabismus type, and correlation factors.
Results The horizontal squint degree ranged from 15 D to 55D, vertical squint degree ranged from 10D to 20D. Binocular single vision defects, wrong surgical design and ametropia is the mainly causes in the second strabismus，other causes included in wrong and rough operation procedure. The treatment to the secondary strabismus included in re-operation with and without adjustable suture and Botxa, 32 in 34 cases undergone re-operation , in that 3 cases were adopted adjustable suture , 2 in 34 cases accepted BOTXA injection into ocular muscles. 30 cases with re-operated strabismus were clinical cured．
Conclusions To evaluate patients with strabismus carefully, differentiate the strabismus types to decide timing and method of re-operation , and with help of adjustable suture and injection BOTXA into ocular muscles, we can increase the success rate of a re-operation and avoid the secondary strabismus of second operation.
