Objective To compare the studies domestic and abroad on diabetic retinopathy from a bibliometric perspective.
Methods Articles were searched from American Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) online database of WOS (web of science) database as a abroad data source, SinoMed database as a domestic data source, to compare the age distribution and Citation of the diabetic retinopathy literatures included during the year of 2002-2011, and the analysis software BibExcel and SPSS19.0 were used to cluster high-frequency of them.
Results Totally 7180 literatures were included of abroad data source, 1104 literatures of domestic data source, the numbers of them were gradually increased, Citation gradually increased significantly after 2002; there were 50 high-frequency subjects, and hot topics were clustered into 6 categories.
Conclusions In recent ten years, the abroad research of diabetic retinopathy focuses on 6 categories such as the research of neovascularization, Epidemiologic Studies of diabetic retinopathy, the research of vitreoretinopathy and macular edema, but the domestic research of diabetic retinopathy focuses on 6 categories such as the system and local theraphy of vitreoretinopathy, the research of diabetes complication, new techniques of diabetic retinopathy, to provide references for the scholars in scientific research and clinical
