Purpose To study the characteristics of optic disk melanocytomas by optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA). Methods A retrospective review of medical records of 10 cases optic disk melanocytomas, including SD-OCT and FFA findings. Results 80% of the lesions were discovered incidentally. Visual acuity and visual field were normal in 50% of the cases. Optic disk melanocytomas displayed as a high reflective band and discontinue from the retinal pigment epithelial signal. The lesions exhibited to be dark brown or black masses, overlying the optic disk, and always blocked background choroidal fluorescence. During the follow-up period, 30% lesions enlarged slowly. Conclusion The visual prognosis of optic disk melanocytoma was excellent.SD-OCT combined with FFA can be very important in the evaluation and follow-up of optic disk melanocytomas. |
