Purpose:To evaluate the use of Minimally Invasive Vitreoretinal Surgical System(MIVS)in the management of challenging cataract cases. Methods:MIVS(23Gor25G) were used in the management ofvariouschallenging cataract cases. Surgical procedures were evaluated. Results:Challenging cataract cases including traumatic cataract,congenital andpediatric cataract, cataract combined with occlusion of pupil, secondary intraocular lens implantation, trans-scleral fixationof intraocular lens, dislocation of intraocular lens, posterior capsule rupture, dropped nucleus,capsular contracture syndrome, infusion misdirection syndrome and malignant glaucoma, were well managedbyMIVS.MIVShasthe advantages in vitrectorrhexis, pupilreconstruction, vitrectomy and management of various complications in cataract surgery. The surgical proceduresusing MIVSwill be demonstrated by videos. Conclusions:MIVS has the advantages in the management of challenging cataract cases. |
