PURPOSE: To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of micro lens extraction and negative power intraocular lens implantation for super myopia
METHODS: This study comprised 346 eyes of 178 patients with super myopia (range -19.00 to -30.50
diopters [D]) who had undergone micro lens extraction and negative power intraocular lens implantation . Outcome measures included
uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), endothelial cell loss, intraoperative and postoperative complications.
RESULTS: The postoperative UDVA was improved in
332 eyes (96.0%) and the postoperative CDVA was better than preoperative CDVA in 341 (98.6%).
The ECD loss was 2.2% and no posterior capsule rupture and
retinal detachment was observed during three year follow-up.
CONCLUSIONS: Three-year findings showed that micro lens extraction and negative power intraocular lens implantation
provided favorable refractive correction and predictability and acceptable safety in patients
with super myopia. |
